Hongkong 10th January: 1882

I have the honour to enclose copies of a letter, with inclosures, which I addressed on the 2nd inst. to the acting Colonial Secretary, for the information of the Governor in Council, of the Secretary's reply, dated the 5th, and of my rejoinder, dated the 4th inst. As I state in my letter to the acting Colonial Secretary of the 2nd inst., the documents, to which it gives cover, show that on the 20th September last, the Reverend E. J.
